Scary Mask,Good Results
I finally finished my finals and turned in all my school paperwork! I'm free (school wise) for the next three weeks! Woo-hoo!
A few days ago, I was at my Mom's house hanging out with my sisters. K had been wanting to try a charcoal mask that she saw on Youtube and I have to say, it was pretty awesome.
It worked really well for me and I wanted to share it with you.
You'll need only three ingredients:
1) Activated charcoal capsules
2) Elmer's glue
3) Peppermint extract
What to do:
Open the capsules into a small bowl. My sisters and I used three capsules and it worked really well. Think about it as, one capsule per person. Take the charcoal powder and mix in about (a guesstimate) of a tablespoon of Elmer's glue right into it. Then go ahead and put two or three drops of the peppermint extract into the mixture.
Once it's all mixed, take a clean big makeup brush and brush the mixture onto your face. Make sure that you put a nice thick layer over your whole face. However, whatever you do, DO NOT and I repeat, DO NOT, get it close to your hair or eyebrows. When it's time to take the mask off, you will regret it if you brush it over your hair.
I let my mask sit for half an hour. G and K waited only 20 minutes and theirs did not work quite as well as mine did. Make sure to try not to talk, eat or move your mouth really. The more the mask has a chance to set, the better it works. Your face is going to get really tight and the mask will sink into your pores.
This was me smiling after about 15 minutes with the mask on. |
After 30 minutes, pull the mask upwards. The mask is supposed to be completely matte. It was really cool because you should see the mask sink into your pores. I tried to keep my mask all in one piece like the lady in the video below, but it didn't totally work. Just so you know, the girl in the video doesn't say anything about when you take off the mask and it hurting. It hurts. Both of my sisters did not like it, but it wasn't too bad in my opinion.
But when it finally comes off, there is so much stuff that comes out of your pores. I've always struggled with blackheads and when I took the mask off, it didn't magically make all my blackheads disappear like I was hoping, but it did seem to exfoliate and clean my skin quite a bit. After you get as much of the mask off as you can, wipe your face with a warm washcloth to get the rest of it off.
If you have really sensitive skin, it might turn your skin red. G's face was red after she took her mask off but after she put lotion on, it was fine. Make sure that you put lotion on after and you should have no problems.
Here is the YouTube video that we based ours off!
